This course will cover the development, principals and use of environmental and occupational health risk assessment, risk communication and the policy implications. Risk assessment and risk management procedures will be evaluated in context of public participation, sustainable development, occupational and environmental justice, and natural vs. human vs. technological hazards. Strengths and weaknesses of alternative approaches to quantitative risk assessment will also be covered.
